ayurveda

I have been a proponent of Ayurveda ever since I first discovered it a few years ago. I took a course and started implementing it into my life. In this article, I will cover the basics of Ayurveda and give you some amazing resources.

What Is Ayurveda?

Ayurveda is the world’s oldest health system, beginning in India a few thousand years ago. The word “Ayurveda” means the science of life.  It is a lifestyle system consisting of specific foods tailored to everyone’s individual constitution, daily self-care rituals, and detoxing methods. When researching lifestyles that most closely worked in harmony with nature, this one is the clear winner.

This system of knowledge acknowledges that everyone is born with a unique combination of doshas. Dosha is a Sanskrit word meaning “constitution.” Each of the three doshas is made up of different aspects of the elements; Earth, Air, Fire, Water, and Space.

To keep it simple for now, every food, herb, and spice either pacifies or aggravates each dosha. So, you will always be healthy if you eat the right foods for your dosha. This also goes beyond food and also applies to almost anything in life. Once you know what your body constitution is, it becomes much easier to live a lifestyle that supports your optimal health.

The system also advises that we eat the foods that are in season, as well as living in harmony with nature in other ways. It is such a vast system. It is the only lifestyle I have found that is based around total harmony with nature and living holistically. (Learn more about the countless benefits of a holistic lifestyle.)

Where To Learn About Ayurveda

I have an online course called Introduction To Ayurveda; Your Unique Path to Holistic Wellness. It’s priced lower than the Ayurveda programs I took, because I believe people should have access to quality information no matter what their budget is.

In this video, I walk you through everything that is in the course:

In case you’re curious where I learned it from, I have learned about Ayurveda from many sources; here are the ones I recommend checking out:
